Murdoch Children’s Research Institute are currently running the Working Out Dads research project in partnership with Tweddle Child and Family Health Services.

Murdoch Children’s Research Institute are currently looking for dads of young children (aged 0-4 years) living or working in the Bendigo LGA to take part. We know that support and services for dads in early fatherhood is lacking and that stress is high at the moment, so this project offers a great way for dads to get some extra support.

Dads who participate in the study are provided with one of the following forms of support:

  • Working Out Dads – a 6-week face-to-face group of 6-10 fathers, which includes time for discussion about being a dad, managing work and family life, and strategies to cope with stress. It also includes a 30-minute group personal training session with a personal trainer.
  • Talking About Being a Dad – a brief discussion over the phone with a health professional from Tweddle Child & Family Health Service about what it is like to be a dad, about your health and wellbeing, and what resources and services are available for fathers.
