Shine Bright EYM, Swan Hill North Primary School, the Department of Education (DET), the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) and Swan Hill Rural City Council are excited to announce the relocation of the Swan Hill North Kindergarten, to the new site of Swan Hill North Primary School. A purpose-built modular building will be established on the grounds of the primary school, which will support the roll out of the Government’s recent announcement to increase 4-year-old kindergarten to 30 hours per week and provision of 15 hours for 3 year old kindergarten. It is expected that the new kindergarten will be operational from the start of Term 2, 2023. Having the kindergarten co-located on school grounds will also assist in the children’s transition to primary school.

“We are excited to announce that Shine Bright Swan Hill North Kindergarten will be relocated to new premises,” said Suzi Sordan, CEO of Shine Bright. “With 90 per cent of a child’s brain developing before the age of five, early education has a profound effect on the way children develop; providing a state of the art facility such as this goes a long way to support the children of the local community. We hope to continue to offer support in the coming months to families who will be part of this exciting relocation in 2023.”

School Principal Brea Terris commented, “We want to provide the children in our area a safe, purpose-built place where they can transition from kindergarten to primary school smoothly. We are very proud to provide this service to the families of our region.”

“We wish to thank the staff and families of Shine Bright Swan Hill North Kindergarten as well as the Swan Hill Rural City Council, DET, VSBA and Swan Hill North Primary School for their efforts to ensure this project could be delivered,” said Suzi Sordan.

The current site of Swan Hill North Kindergarten will remain vacant during 2023 while the demand to provide kindergarten services from this facility is assessed against announced Government reforms.
