Tuesday August 4

National Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day – Tuesday August 4th

Theme: We are the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice

How perfect is this theme for us……..Teachers and Educators who are passionate about the importance of providing safe and stimulating learning environments that allow children to speak freely, be listened to and have their feelings and views taken into account. Each and every day we support children to reach their full potential, helping them grow and learn, become the best person they can be…..because they are of course our future leaders and Elders of Tomorrow!

National Aboriginal Children’s and Torres Strait Islander Day is an opportunity for all Australians to show support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children, as well as learn about the crucial impact that culture, family and community play in the life of every child.

The impact of COVID-19 means we are unable to celebrate with families, elders and community however we encourage you to embrace the day and find a way to celebrate within your service, staff and children. Check out this link for some ideas and resources https://aboriginalchildrensday.com.au/childrens-day-2020/, your local KPSA or access your IAS Cultural Resource box for activities.

Don’t forget to send through your pictures of the day to be shared!

Kind regards
