SERVICE PHILOSOPHY

At Shine Bright Anstruther Street, our priority is providing a safe and secure environment; where children feel welcomed and comfortable to be their truest selves. We strive to be an inclusive community that celebrates diversity and the unique perspectives that our extended community brings to our service. We stand on Yorta Yorta country and acknowledge and seek their knowledge and ways of learning to incorporate into our programs.

In line with the Shine Bright way, we believe in keeping the joy in all that we do at Kinder; joy in our interactions, in our teaching, and in our play. At Anstruther Street Kindergarten we lead with kindness, empathy and respect, creating a culture of celebrating and uplifting one another.

We believe in a strengths-based approach to early learning, where the program is adaptable to each child’s own styles of learning.  We value agency and choice, allowing children to showcase their capability while growing their confidence and independence.

Holistic wellbeing is an integral part of our program. We incorporate mindfulness, the recognition and regulation of emotions, intentional choices, healthy bodies and minds and rest and re-set periods throughout each day. We model and guide positive social interactions and encourage children to communicate their boundaries.

We appreciate families as children’s first and most important teachers  and we value a collaborative partnership in guiding their child’s learning through the kindergarten years.

We believe whole heartedly in learning through play, as it is through play that children come to understand the world around them and where they may explore their capabilities, develop their identities and interact with their peers.

We are guided in our practice by the seven quality standards of Australia’s National Quality Framework and in our curriculum by the Early Years Learning Framework of Australia: Belonging, Being and Becoming.
