Description: (potential Bendigo pilot)
Having a wellbeing dog join the community can support children in many ways including the development of emotional regulation and empathy. This would be an opportunity for children who struggle emotionally and socially to build their confidence in building connections. Having a dog in the space will give children the opportunity to spend time caring for and playing with Nina. Children learn about the impact of their actions on Nina and what Nina needs to feel calm and relaxed in the space. This is also an opportunity for children who have not had positive experiences with animals (including dogs) to develop their knowledge and confidence through spending time with Nina.
