Spring Gully Kinder Parents Advisory Group (PAG) has successfully applied for a $3600 grant from Fosterville Goldmine.

The grant has been awarded to install wooden sculptures, to commemorate the new naming of our kinder groups in our local Indigenous language.

The three kinder groups are now named:

  • Gurri (Eastern grey kangaroo)
  • Guwak (Kookaburra)
  • Wila (Brushtail possum)

The kinder has commissioned local artist RawBoards to create carvings of the three animals to be installed at the kinder. We hope these project will further help educate our teachers, students and families about our Indigenous cultures, and increase knowledge and use of our local Dja Dja Wurrung language.

Last year kinder representatives Emma, Angus and William went out to Fosterville to collect the cheque (and even got a chance to hold some of that famous gold), check out the photos below!

Spring Gully Kinder Parent’s Advisory Group (PAG) has received approval from the local Aboriginal organisation Dja Dja Wurrung and the City of Greater Bendigo to design and install the artwork.

The PAG will also contribute approx $1500 from the kinder’s fundraising money to complete to the project. The kinder expects to ‘launch’ the sculptures soon with a special ceremony.
