Our Philosophy

Belonging

Children: We aim to promote relationships that build trust. We do this providing a welcoming and safe environment that supports the children’s own sense of identity and way of being.

Families: We encourage families to contribute in all areas of the centre program and experiences. We strive to develop positive, mutually respectful relationships with family members and work in partnership with them to ensure continuity of learning and the best outcomes for all.

Educators: As educators we encourage ongoing learning and reflective practice through extending our professional knowledge of children, families and the wider community. We place importance on utilising our educators’ personal attributes and we actively participate in working together well as a team.

Being

Children: We value each child as competent, powerful and an active contributor to his/her own learning. We recognise that children bring with them existing knowledge and experience.

Families: We recognise that each family is unique and we respect their diversity by encouraging them to contribute their ideas, interests and goals for their child through a variety of means of communication.

Educators: As educators we recognise that each child brings with them existing knowledge and experience. We recognise that children have different learning capacities and styles and use a combination of child led, child initiated, intentional teaching to support learning. We observe, evaluate and plan for each child as we set goals to progress learning.

Becoming

Children: We aim to extend each child’s interests and support individual strengths as we empower children to be deep thinkers and problem solvers as they learn through play. We aim to introduce children to a wide range of social and cultural experiences so they learn to value diversity and learn to accept challenges.

Families: We believe that it is important to nurture and establish relationships within community organisations and utilise the wider community in order to share our knowledge and experiences.

Educators: As educators we are committed to ongoing professional development and reflection in order to enhance our knowledge and skills. We aim to share this knowledge with others in developing ongoing relationships.
