There are some exciting employment and volunteer opportunities coming up that we wanted to share!  

CatholicCare are looking for someone to join their Parenting Education and Group Work Team as a Family Relationship Practitioner.  Baptcare are recruiting volunteers for the fantastic Home-Start program to mentor families with pre-school aged children.  The ParentsNext program which provides training, skills development and mentoring to prepare parents of young children to re-engage with employment is now open to voluntary participants.

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Home Start volunteer please get in touch with Jane or Harriet at Baptcare (details below).  They would love to provide more insight into the role and the different ways it can be delivered to families (online, face-to-face, mixed) as well as the training opportunities available. Volunteering with Home Start is a great opportunity for connection with the community through the work you do with families and by engaging with other Home Start volunteers. 

  

Return to topProfessional Development Opportunity for ParentsParentsNext supports parents and carers who receive Parenting Payment to plan and prepare for work by the time their youngest child starts school.  Support includes help with developing skills, training or work experience, help arranging financial support for job preparation skills, training and other work-related expenses (e.g. getting a license, laptops, specialist training) or connecting to local support services such as counselling.

Previously ParentsNext was only available to parents who were referred from Centrelink, however, parents are now able to sign up as Voluntary Participants in ParentsNext.  To be eligible parents must be on a Parenting Payment (either single or partnered) and have a child under 5 years of age.More information about ParentsNext can be found at: https://www.dese.gov.au/parentsnext or phone 1800 916 291 and ask to speak with the ParentsNext team.
