Great News!!! Spring Gully Kindergarten has been successful with a grant application. Made possible by Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant for a Bush Tucker Garden!

We are going to create a bush tucker garden. Learning about how different plants were used by local Indigenous people. Students will be involved in planting this bush tucker garden and work with the local Dja Dja Wurrung Aboriginal corporation. Learning more about Indigenous plants and their uses. By working with the Friends of the Spring Gully Reserve to learn more about Indigenous plants and how they can also attract local fauna. Creating this garden and teaming up with these two community groups we aim to further develop student knowledge and curiosity about bush tucker plants.

Spring Gully Kindergarten is one of 538 primary schools and early learning centres throughout Australia receiving a Woolworths Junior Landcare grant. The Woolworths Junior Landcare grant helps grow our next generation of environmental champions.

The funds have been made possible with money made from the sale of the Woolworths recyclable Bag for good™. Launched in 2018 when the supermarket stopped using single-use plastic bags.

The children and teachers are looking forward to working and learning from this project and we’ll keep you updated on the results.
